Finger Rock Trailblazin'

Photobucket

Today we went on a little hike. Well, it really wasn't that little... it was probably the steepest hike I have ever done and let me tell you, I have climbed some mountains in my day. So needless to say we got a PRE-TTY GOOD workout in.

Photobucket

But the views were oh so worth it.

We had to stop, well I needed to stop, and take a breather every now and then because that altitude was messin' with by breathing! or maybe I'm just really out of shape.

Many of you know this little fact about me but a lot of you may not:

I am a total wildflower nerd.

I have been ever since we lived in Jackson Hole, Wyoming one summer and I always will be.  If we were to walk through a field of wildflowers in Jackson Hole, no matter what time of year it is, I have no doubt I can tell you the name of every single one.  How you may wonder?  Because I studied them.  Yes I admit I am a wildflower, and really any kind of flower, LOVER.

So, naturally, I took a picture of just about every kind of wildflower I saw on this trail.

A Cactus Rose... I am so excited that they are just starting to bloom!

Photobucket

And these were everywhere you looked.

Photobucket

I had to photograph this odd looking thing/cactus... it was too interesting to ignore.

Photobucket

Sunburn? How about some aloe vera? You can literally cut the stem and rub it on your skin and it soothes a burn!

Photobucket

Overall, it was a really good day.

Home Sweet Home

... at least for now.

The Rockies have put us up in the Sheraton here in Tucson and if I'm going to have to live in a hotel here, this is the one I would choose. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the pool and workout room are definitely a bonus, and the view from our balcony is quite breathtaking.

This is the view from our balcony... looking to the right.

Photobucket

Looking straight ahead.

Photobucket

And looking to the left.

Photobucket

Sunsets over Mobile Bay will always be my favorite, but I'm definitely not complaining about Arizona sunsets.

This is looking out over Tucson. Please ignore that stupid speed limit sign :)

So you know how we're living in a hotel? Well it's KILLING me that I don't have a kitchen to cook in.  As a matter of fact, the only kitchen appliance in the room is a little mini fridge... there's not even a microwave. But, I have brought my little bitty crockpot and an indoor grill/griddle. Don't worry, I'm going to start a fire cook on the balcony, not in the room. I will blog about my unusual cooking adventures in another post.

So we're trying to save money by not eating out for EVERY single meal- I mean there's only so much mexican food a girl can eat :) So here's what we came up with for supper last night.

A lemon pepper rotisserie chicken, caesar salad (in a bag), and gatorade. Oh, and Aaron ate a can of Beanie Weanies too but I didn't photograph that because it might make your stomachs turn.

Photobucket

Aren't we just glamorous?

So that was about our living conditions... now onto my better half. We were laughing one day after he worked out about the difference in his right arm and left arm. I told y'all he's been working out everything but!

Photobucket

I snapped this picture before we left and he has no idea I'm putting this on the blog. But if I were him I wouldn't mind because I think he looks pretty darn good despite his puny right arm! And the melon colored walls in the background really complement his skin tone! :)

His daily regimen consists of getting to the field by 7:45 every morning (which really isn't bad considering it feels like 9:45 to us) and he works with the trainer for about two hours strengthening and stretching his arm out through physical therapy exercises. After that, he works out for about 2 hours. And around 11:45 he calls me to come pick him up and we get to spend the rest of the day together. He really has it made because he doesn't have to dress out with the other guys and sit around at all the games. He just rehabs and works out with all the injured Big League guys.

The Rehab Coordinator for the Rockies evaluated him the first day and was very pleased with his progress.  These next two weeks they will focus on getting his full range of motion back.  The next month they will totally focus on strengthening his arm and back to get ready to start tossing in June.  It means so much to have your prayers... I know they are working!

So there you have it... Now you have a mental picture in your head of where we are and what we're doing!

I'm going to do my best to keep y'all updated with where we go and what we do each week. So long for now!

"Remember the Alamo"

This post is about our TWENTY THREE hour road trip from Fairhope, Alabama to Tucson, Arizona.

Photobucket

We split the trip into three days and two nights so it really wasn't as bad as it seems. We took a little detour while driving through San Antonio because Aaron wanted to take me to see The Alamo.

There was a festival going on downtown and so we decided to take a stroll through the madness. There were beautiful, old, Spanish style homes everywhere so I had to snap some pictures. Some of them are a bit crooked because I was weaving in and out of people while trying to photograph them.

We saw plenty of interesting people and ate interesting food.

After we had walked through the arts festival, we headed downtown to see the Alamo, or what is left of it I should say.

San Antonio was a neat city and I'm so glad we stopped! We didn't stop to explore anymore towns along the way because there wasn't much left to be explored but we did see some beautiful scenery on our drive. Most of these pictures are blurry because I took these while Aaron was driving at the speed of light.

Well we have made it to Tucson and are now settled in our hotel room... yes we will be living in a hotel for the next two months. But I'm trying to look on the bright side- at least I have a maid! :)

It was so good to arrive in Tucson and GET OUT OF THE CAR. We are all settled and there will be a post coming soon about Tucson, Aaron's daily regimen, and our living conditions.

Until then!

Photoshoot

Hi, it's me.

Photobucket

The last pictures Aaron and I have together were on our wedding day and well, that was over a year ago so Mom and I decided to have a photoshoot yesterday. Taking pictures is one of those things you dread doing but after you see the fruits of your "labor" you're so glad you took the time to do it and that's how I feel about these.
